Miami University Varsity Esports 2017 Rosters Announced!

The Miami University Varsity Esports Program is proud to announce the teams for its second season, the 2017-18 school year. The RedHawks will compete in three games: Hearthstone, League of Legends, and Overwatch.

The RedHawks Hearthstone team consists of six players: returning are Austin Cassel, Ryan Danielson and Summer 2017 Red Bull Team Brawl finalist Mitch Mazzei. Joining them are newcomers Alex Danielson, Brad Frysinger (who served as team analyst and caster last year), and Tom James. The team will be managed by Phill Alexander.

The RedHawks League of Legends team consists of six players as well. Returning from last year’s second-place National Association of Collegiate Esports team are Paul Goldberg, Riley Hays, Dmitriy Kizhikin, Jacey Miller and Alex Thompson. They are joined by newcomer Tyler Roop. The team will be managed by Miami Alum Josh Melink with the assistance of student analysts Haitham Algbory and Matt Samuelson.

The RedHawks Overwatch team consists of ten players. Returning are Tyler Fass, Mack Patrick, Calvin Sanvee and Sam Yancer. They are joined by newcomers Alex Elyousef, Aidan Gallagher, Nick Gereg, Soo-Jung Kim , Seungchan Lee, and Sean Mullee. The team will be managed by Miami Alum Ben Decker with the assistance of student analyst Jarod Haney.

The Varsity RedHawks will be in action soon. TESPA Hearthstone Training Grounds begin September 25th. TESPA Collegiate Series for Overwatch begins September 23. The American Video League for League of Legends begins September 21. Schedules will be available on and matches will be streamed on
